Giecz — Field School unavailable
at the moment

The Giecz Archaeological Complex had hosted the International Field School in Mortuary Archaeology since the year 2000. The project, however, was suspended in 2009 when Giecz received a big restructuring grant from the European Union. The site is supervised by the First Piasts Museum at Lednica which manages the grant funds.

Now the stronghold of Giecz and its surroundings will undergo extensive construction including modernization of the technical infrastructure as well as alteration of the museum space and building of the new warehouses and visitor facilities. The deadline for completing this project is Fall 2010.

Such new developments at First Piasts Museum and the stronghold represent substantial improvement of these heritage resources and will undoubtedly change the Giecz Archaeological Complex. You can find a gallery of pictures from the recent renovation work at Giecz below.
